Laser Therapy
Laser Therapy is a new treatment modality that we provide at our clinic. Laser Therapy is used to:
Laser Therapy can be used in conjunction with other therapies, or on its own to help with chronic or acute issues. The treatment is pain-free and drug-free and can also be a great alternative for patients that are elderly or have medical conditions which don't allow them to take certain pain medications.
What is Laser Therapy & what can it do?
Laser therapy is the use of a medical specified laser machine that emits a beam of light of a wavelength just outside the visible spectrum (infared) called photobiomodulation. The light photons penetrate down into the underlying tissue that will cause chemical changes to damaged cells. This stimulates cells to improve the healing process, help to release endorphins, increase blood flow and circulation, help muscle relaxation and aid in a faster repair and healing process.
What happens when my pet comes in for Laser Therapy?
Depending on your pets condition, our vets will come up with a tailored treatment plan. Our staff who are trained in Laser therapy will take you and your pet through into our treatment room and get you set up, nice and comfy for the session. Anybody that will be in the room for the session will need to wear specified glasses or googles (this includes the patient) as an important safety measure. We will make our patients feel as comfortable as possible as we want this to become a great experience for both the client and pet. The treatment can last for around 3-7mins (depending on the area that needs to be treated). A probe is used to either directly or indirectly move over the effected area, your pet will feel a warm rubbing/massaging sensation which most pets find relaxing.
