Puppy School

There are many benefits to attending a Puppy School with your new puppy. When you bring your puppy home, it can be a big change for you and your pup and puppy school can help you both learn how to adjust and live together harmoniously. Young puppies will need help learning their new routine - where to sleep, where to toilet, how to play and how to cope with being left alone which many puppies have never experienced before.

Puppies are also going though an intense learning phase around the ages of 6 to 16 weeks, so it's important to start them on the right foot both with how to live in their new home, and also how to cope with everything else they will be exposed to in their external environment throughout their life.

We provide a puppy school program for puppies between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks of age. It runs for 4 weeks where you will have 4 sessions with a veterinary nurse who is trained in behaviour. We focus on positive learning techniques to help set you and your puppy up for a long and happy life together. We aim to help you:

  • Develop an understanding of normal puppy behaviour, learn how to read your puppy's body language and respond appropriately.
  • Develop effective techniques for positive behavioural development.
  • Learn how to socialise your puppy.
  • Learn how to positively introduce your puppy to new things (such as the vet)
  • Find out how to protect your puppy against common parasites and diseases.
  • Understand important boundaries when playing together.
  • Learn how to train your puppy.
  • Develop strong bonds between you and your puppy.

The most important thing about training your puppy is to start early. That way you can prevent problems and bad habits before they are established
